Functional Medicine in Lincoln, NE
Your labs came back normal. You still don't feel well. Let's find out why.

Functional medicine doesn't ask what's wrong, it asks what your body has been trying to tell you. Comprehensive diagnostics. A protocol built around your actual results.

What is FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE?

Medicine that goes looking for the answer.

Conventional medicine is designed around disease management. It identifies what's measurably wrong and treats it. That's valuable. But it wasn't built for the patient whose symptoms don't match a billable diagnosis, whose labs fall within reference range while she still feels exhausted, or whose weight won't respond despite doing everything right.

Functional medicine starts earlier in the process. It orders a broader panel of labs, not just whether markers fall within reference range, but where they fall within an optimal range for function. It interprets results in the context of hormones, metabolism, inflammation, gut function, nutrient status, adrenal and thyroid patterns, and the full clinical picture. It finds the upstream drivers before they become downstream diagnoses.

At Mederi, functional medicine is practiced by Renee, a board-certified family nurse practitioner with advanced functional medicine training and full practice authority in Nebraska. The process is thorough, the labs are comprehensive, and the protocol that results is specific to you. Not a generic recommendation. Your protocol.

Your labs came back normal

You were told everything looked fine. You went home without answers and started wondering if you were imagining it. You weren't.

prescriptions

You've tried everything

Clean eating, supplements, more sleep. Something still isn't working and no one has been able to tell you why.

You've been dismissed

Not cruelly, just efficiently. Your symptoms didn't match a code so you were handed a prescription and sent on your way.

FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE can help you

  • Understand what your labs are actually telling you, not just whether you're in range

  • Identify the root causes behind fatigue, weight changes, brain fog, and mood shifts

  • Get a comprehensive hormone picture including thyroid, sex hormones, and adrenal function

  • Understand your metabolic health at a level your standard panel never reaches

  • Build a protocol that addresses what's actually driving your symptoms

  • Work with a provider who has time to investigate, not just manage

You deserve a provider who goes looking for the real answer. That's what functional medicine at Mederi does.

Did you know…

Optimal Health

Standard lab ranges are built from population averages, not optimal health markers. Functional medicine interprets your results differently.

We Look Deeper

Fasting insulin, full thyroid panels, hormone metabolites, and inflammatory markers are rarely ordered in conventional primary care and often where the real answers live.

DPC + Functional Medicine

Functional medicine doesn't replace primary care. At Mederi it's built on top of it. Your DPC membership is the foundation everything else is built from.

Specialty Testing

The DUTCH hormone panel, GI Map, and specialty micronutrient testing can reveal patterns that standard panels completely miss.

Your Functional Medicine Provider

I'm Renee Buchta, APRN, FNP-C,

A board-certified family nurse practitioner with advanced functional medicine training and full practice authority in Nebraska. I built Mederi because I believe patients deserve more than a 15-minute appointment and a prescription.

Functional medicine is the investigative layer I add on top of primary care. I order the tests conventional medicine doesn't reach for. I interpret your results in the context of your whole picture, not just the single marker that's out of range. And I build a protocol that addresses root causes, tracks them over time, and adjusts as the picture gets clearer.

If you've been dismissed or told your labs are normal while you still don't feel well that gap is exactly where I work.

She's heard your story before.

She's not managing your case. She's actually in it with you.

"When I was diagnosed with Bell's palsy, Renee had a targeted supplement regimen to me within hours. She didn't wait for a follow-up appointment she just handled it. And she stayed available to answer every question I had while I was going through it. That's the kind of provider she is. She's not managing your case. She's actually in it with you."

HOW it works

Every functional medicine protocol at Mederi is built from scratch around your results. No pre-packaged programs. No one-size-fits-all approach.

STEP ONE

COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH ASSESSMENT

A thorough written assessment based on your full health history and any existing labs. This is the foundation everything else is built from. Your starting point is yours alone.

A flat lay of a white surface with a sliced orange in a small wooden bowl, a glass of water with ice, a few green leaves, a stethoscope, a white spiral notebook with lines, and a couple of medical textbooks.

STEP TWO

ADVANCED FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE LAB PANEL

A comprehensive panel that goes well beyond standard bloodwork, including fasting insulin, full thyroid, hormone metabolites, inflammatory markers, micronutrients, and more. What we order is based on your picture, not a standard checklist.

STEP THREE

YOUR PERSONAL PROTOCOL

A clinical protocol built entirely around your actual results. Targeted supplementation, dietary adjustments, lifestyle modifications, and any specialty testing indicated. Not a template lifted from a program. Not a protocol built for someone else. Yours.
